In one sentence: CoreSweep runs 100% on your Mac and reports nothing back — the only personal data we ever hold is the email and order record tied to a purchase, and even your card details never reach us.
1. Our core philosophy: absolute zero-telemetry
CoreSweep is a native macOS app that analyzes and cleans your disk entirely on-device. Privacy isn’t a setting here — it’s the architecture. The app runs 100% locally and is built so it has nothing to report and nowhere to report it.
- No analytics SDKs and no event or usage tracking of any kind.
- No telemetry daemons running in the background.
- No crash-reporting servers — nothing is auto-uploaded if something goes wrong.
- No phone-home for licensing. Your licence key is verified offline, on your Mac, using local cryptography. CoreSweep never contacts a server to check whether you’re allowed to run it.
The contents of your files and folders, your scan results, your usage, and your cleaning history are never collected, logged remotely, or transmitted. If you run a network monitor such as Little Snitch, you will see no unexpected outbound traffic from the app. We have no way to see what’s on your disk, because that information never leaves it.
2. Data collected during purchase
When you buy CoreSweep Pro, the transaction is handled by PayPal, our third-party payment processor. The Cutting Edge Group CC is the seller and merchant.
- PayPal collects your email address, billing details, and IP address in order to process the payment securely, issue your licence key, and help us meet our tax obligations. PayPal handles all card data; its use of your information is governed by its own privacy policy.
- We (the seller) receive only your email address, your country (for tax purposes), and your licence tier. We use this strictly to verify your licence when you contact support and to send you critical software updates.
We never see your full card number, CVV, or any payment-card details — those stay with PayPal and never reach us.
3. Data collected during support
If you contact us for help, we keep your email address and the contents of your message. We retain this solely to assist you and to understand how we can improve the app. We don’t use support correspondence for marketing or share it with anyone.
4. Feedback & reviews
If you submit feedback or a review through the website, we store the name, email address, star rating, and message you provide. Two things to know:
- Feedback is held privately and is not published until we’ve reviewed it.
- When a review is published, it shows only an anonymized name (for example, “First L.”), the star rating, and the text. Your email address is never published.
5. Cookies & the website
The CoreSweep app stays zero-telemetry — this section is about the marketing website only, and the app sends Google nothing.
The website uses the essential cookies required to complete checkout, and Google Ads conversion tracking (Google's gtag.js) so we can measure which advertising actually helps people find CoreSweep. Google's tag may set cookies and receive your IP address and basic page events (which pages you viewed, whether you downloaded or bought); we use this only in the aggregate. Google processes it under its own privacy policy. You can limit ad cookies through your browser settings or via Google's Ads Settings. Aside from Google Ads and PayPal's checkout, no other third-party scripts are embedded.
6. Your global rights
Wherever you live, you have rights over the limited data we hold. We honor requests under South Africa’s POPIA, the EU and UK GDPR, and California’s CCPA/CPRA, including the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you.
- Delete your records. Please note: deleting your purchase record means we can no longer verify your licence or reissue a lost key, so keep a copy of your key first.
- Opt out of our (already minimal) marketing email at any time.

7. Data retention & security
We keep your purchase record for as long as your licence is active and as required to meet legal and tax obligations, then delete it. Support and feedback data are kept only as long as they’re useful for the purpose they were given. The data we hold is minimal by design and stored securely, with access limited to what’s needed to run the business.
